| THE VESICA PISCES |

The Vesica Pisces is one of the most widely used geometries from ancient
to modern times. It was eloquently described by a young friend of mine as " the venn diagram thing"!
In three dimensions this shape is two spheres which have merged so that the centre of each lies on the edge of the other. The two dimensional descrition of this shape is two equal circles which intersect, so that the centre of each lies on the circumference of the other and the shape formed by the intersection is pointy ended oval. The whole geometry is known as the vesica pisces, the overlaping oval is the vesica.
These shapes form the basis of the Flower of Life and are commonly found in the decoration of sacred bulidings and their architecture across virtually all known spiritual traditions.
The over lapping circles can be viewed in 3 states:
- the one in process of becoming two- separation,
- the two in process of becoming one- unification and
- the two in process of becomming three- procreation.
Thus the geometry can represent many spiritual concepts. Commonly used symbolism includes:
- The God/Divine Masculine and Goddess/Divine Feminine uniting to form offspring (the Great Rite). Thus the offspring or the divine child is Spirit made manifest. The God is often associated with the Sun and the active masculine principle. The Goddess is associated with the Moon and the reflective feminine principle.
- The vesica is seen as a symbolic representation of the vagina of the Goddess. Her ability to gestate and birth life is honoured by those who use the vesica in this way. The vesica is used in many sacred sites where the Divine Feminine is worshiped. Chalice Well and The Chapel of St Mary in Glastonbury, England are both examples of this.
- The fish (vesica) was adopted by early Christians as a secret symbol of the their new and contoversial faith, the miracle of the loaves and fishes and Jesus as the fisher of souls.
- The Age of Pisces was marked by the sun's movement into the the constellation of Pisces and coincided with the start of Christianity. Easter is celebrated at this time of year.

| THE PENTAGRAM |

The pentagram is a five pointed Star. It has long been assocaited with spirituality and more recently with the occult and modern paganism, including Wicca and witchcraft. The star is formed by five lines of equal length.
Like a circle, the pentagram can be drawn in one continuous movement, without lifting the marker from the page. This continuous movement is traced by the planet Venus in our night skies and this in turn has led to the pentagram being associated with the Goddess and the Sacred Feminine as the planet Venus is associated with that most feminine of Goddesses; Aphrodite aka Venus.
The pentagram is also associated with magic. Many of John Dees magical / alchemical symbols include the pentagram. Modern day witches have adopted the pentacle; the pentagram with in a circle, as their common symbol and usually associate it with protection.
Numerologically the pentagram is the representation of the number 5. Five is the number of change, travel and adventure. It is interesting to note that 5 is part of the Fibonacci Series and is found in all flowers of the edible fruit bearing plants. While flowers with structures based on 6 and 7 are usually poisenous or medicinal when prepared with specific knowledge. The pentagram and the human are famously brought together in the Vetruvian Man.

| INWARD SPIRAL |

Know thyself. This is the first teaching of spiritual growth. The inward spiral represents the journey of the individual to know themselves. This journey ultimately leads to Truth and Love.
If we do not know, accept and love ourselves how can we expect others to do so?
If we cannot be honest with ourselves, how can we ask others to be so?
Thus the journey within to face our own demons, learn our own lessons, forgive our own transgressions, honour our own divinity and love our whole selves leads us to a place where we can do this for others as a truthful expression of our humanity and spirituality.
|
The composite sybolism is that each individual (pentagram), as a child of the universe (vesica pisces), stands in sacred space(vesica), which is inately protected and safe, to journey (5) within themselves (inward spiral) to find truth, love and their own spiritual path.

It is the intent of the Sun Moon and Star to be a place that suports this.
