I know that this will be a radical statement for many but here goes!
I do not believe that Planet Earth is broken! She has survived bigger changes than global warming and climate change as we are currently experiencing and projecting. It is humans and other life forms that are at risk of being destroyed. Sure, humans are responsible for the changes due to our polluting, unbalanced, thoughtless, consumerist, unsustainable, greedy actions. But the Earth will continue, she will shrug and we will be shed like dandruff! Gaia will evolve and most likely new life forms will develop and the cycle will begin again. Humans may be the dinosaurs of their time but Earth will continue.
So... if you want to send energy to help the status quo - send it to humankind to elevate the thinking and actions of the whole species. Encourage the species to live sustainably and take responsibility for their life choices. Al Gore is right on when he says this is a matter of morality.
It is also the survival of our species (and all living, breathing things) that is at hand - the planet will be just fine!
